E220 dongle.?

Good afternoon, long time lurker first time poster. I’ve recently purchased a 2015 e220 coupe and have noticed that in the diagnostic port there is plug/dongle with Mercedes Benz stamped on And a red flashing led. Anyone any idea what this is for as nobody has been able to give me a reasonable explanation.

If I’m not mistaken
I think it may send signal to the ecu
It’s like a map but a cheap version from eBay
I once own a Audi and that’s what I got told

Thanks,that’s what one mechanic friend suggested,just seems odd it’s a genuine merc part

Are you sure it’s not the Mercedes me plug in?

Not sure a 2015 has the COMAND capability for Mercedes me so they gave out an OBD plug in?

I wouldn’t bother... of very limited use... unless you like being tracked...
