i own E220 1994, car manual says that i should change 5.8 liter of engine oil with filter, i did but when i check oil level with oil port i always notice the level is less than the maximum level by about 50%.

i hope if someone have this model tell me which i should refer to car manual or oil level.

Thanks in advance

Hi

The dipstick is what you should always go by. Thats the definitive reference for the here and now!!

I would also state that you should leave the dip stick in the oil for a few seconds before taking a reading. Thereby giving the oil time to ride up the stick. You will see what I mean. If you dip the oil and read straight away. Then dip the oil and leaving the dip stick in for a few seconds then take a reading. The readings are different.
