5B756C2D-C3BC-45AF-94B8-BEEB045F411B.jpeg Hi guys
As a result of Coronavirus
I’ve serviced both my wife’s A class and my e220 cdi coupe.
When I was stripping down the Calliper to change the discs and pads. There is a plate with 2 bosses that locates in the callipers over the top of the big spring, it has Mercedes Benz on it and can be seen thru the wheel slots. When I tried to remove this to take the spring off it was corroded and just broke off the bosses.
I’m sure it is only for cosmetic reasons. But can anyone give me and idea what these plates are called and where I can get them. Is it a dealer supply.

I would be histatnt to think something on the brakes is cosmetic. Best get it changed to be on safe side.

and go the dealers, tell them what you need, they will bring it up on the computer, point to what you need and that should suffice.

Smart + others :)
You can remove the spring clip without having to remove the decorative trim.

I didn’t know that. I did it on last E coupe with no problem. Cheers

VW Scirocco, (current toy). The Quattro, E350 CDi Sport Coupe, now both gone.

Strangely enough it does appear to be purely cosmetic, as I discovered when I bought and swopped over my new front calipers. They did not come as part of the new calipers and had to be removed from the old ones and fitted to the new ones.

I could see absolutely no function for them other than aesthetic. All they do is hide the not particularly pleasing shape of the caliper.

I must admit as an engineer who has been in the business for 49 years I didn’t think it had a function other than a flat plate to put the words Mercedes Benz on lol.
