I have recently bought a 94 E220 auto with 73k miles. Occasionally when trying to start all the correct lights are on on the dash and the engine turns over perfectly except that the engine does not start. Eventually after many attempts she will start. What I found is that when she wont start I did not hear the petrol pump ‘pump’ and there is no spark. I got the alarm checked out and was told that it was ok. Now she will not start at all, tried 8 times over past 2 days. When ignition turned on the petrol pump does not pump and there is no spark. Any ideas? Someone said that it could be a faulty sensor on the flywheel?

A common fault is bad soldering in the over relay module Check relay number,
the one effected is 000 540 52 45 from Seimens.
Your engine is the 111 yes ?

update

i have justed tried to start the car with the spare key, perfect. Car started 7 times in a row.
My question is: is there a connection between the key and the ignition circuit?
