Hi,
I bought my wife a 2016 White 220D cabriolet earlier this year. Both she and I love driving it. First MB we have ever owned and it doesn’t disappoint. I don’t feel it has the ride quality of my 520D but looks great and seems beautifully made. I have a couple of really stupid question for other owners so will post them later. Please go easy on me!

Not having a sheet roof has big handling and ride quality differences .

Yep, I guess so but the E class I imagined would have a similar ‘limo’ type ride instead it’s a bit like a go kart. We had a puncture recently and found out that the run flats had been replaced by normal tyres so I’m guessing the previous owner also wanted to improve the ride a bit.
We love driving it though but I would probably take the 5 series if I was driving to Scotland

The tyres are so low profile and narrow that we keep kerbing the alloys. I wonder if we should try a larger tyre?

The E cab/coupe isn’t actually an eclass, it’s a C class in a different frock, so even less comparable to your 5 series
