Ideas required- E220d Estate - My tailgate goes up and after 2 seconds just as you are looking in bleeps and then shuts pretty quickly. I have experimented with key or latch and same result. We have filled the compartment beneath the boot floor and wonder if we have disturbed something underneath.

Is a great car and in these high fuel price times and 75k on the clock I am getting 62-64mpg fully laden, even got 70+ driving home from work on a warm evening.

One thing that doesn’t get any maintenance is the hinges at the top of the tailgate and the operating arm ball joint use copious amounts of 5W-30 engine oil to free them off. If you search sticking tailgate on the forum there is quite a bit on the subject the hinges are pretty much open to the environment and a bit agricultural unfortunately.

Thanks Mioba -will do . The car had a new rear passenger side door fitted 3 months ago - i imagine that would take some re-setting of the system. I have a colleague with a fault code reader so willl ask him to plug in.
