E220d widescreen cockpit

Hi Everyone.

I'm new here and just bought an E220 AMG Line Premium Plus secondhand from Mercedes with 26k on the clock.
It didn't come with the widescreen cockpit and i would like to replace my instrument cluster to the new digital one.
Anyone did it ? can it be done?

Hello and welcome,

I'm sure it can be done with some updates to the Mercedes software so it knows it has the twin screens. I don't expect it or the screens to be cheap though.

Hi, it will need to be coded in, it's not as simple as replacing it. If you buy second hand, you will have errors and the mileage will not show up correctly. If you have the basic audio 20 system you will also need to upgrade the head unit to command ntg. You will be looking to spend around £2000-£3000.

looks so easy to do tho. 3 screws and 3 plugs at the back. i thought it will only need a mileage sync and coding.

Hi, I had this done at comand UK, initially I went with the second hand cluster, but it had the white cloud marks on the edges, and was very visible when the sun would hit the screen, this is a known fault on these early units, i then decided that this may cause further problems down the road, so I asked them if they could swap it over for a new cluster (2020), which they did. Yes the cost for new was 4K supply and fit, with all updates, they are very competent and helpful, and after sales is also first class, they never quibbled, when I asked to fit a new cluster after they had fitted the used one. So yes you won’t go wrong with using them for this service.
