E230 1996 N Auto Ellegence HELP PLEASE!

Hi i am new to this forum and i have always been a fan of German cars.

I am wondering if you can help me my dad got an E230 on an N reg from new and he has not driven it for a few months therefore the battery was dead. We charged the battery and runs bit funny now. The symptoms are when accelerating the engine cuts out, when i selected reverse without acceleration it runs really rough. Also when i rev the **** out of it it also cuts out and judders.

Any help would be much appreciated as my dad will kick my ass when he comes back from his holiday.

i know sometimes the slk with that engine sometimes needs boot strapping on a star machine to reset the throttle angle etc, or poss the air-mass sensor has gone, you need fault codes read to really know!! and welcome to the site!

Yeah it could be actually... is that air mass sensor by the air box by any chance?

[Also when i rev the **** out of it it also cuts out and judders. ] If this is happening in P or N it is the rev limiter which cuts the fuel supply at around 4000revs.

battery dead

did you charge it in situ connected! you should take it off the car. anyway get new battery has the car been out side or garaged it could be "standing" related fault after 2 months; ie damp, water in fuel filter etc, I stand same model regularly but in garage no problems other than battery going dead 3 years ago , replaced £55 trade.
