:confused:i have an E230 1995 that has bad starting only when cold, it is an intermittant fault that im having trouble rectifying, tried cam, crank sensors, coolant sensor, plugs, leads coils, still no joy. Sometimes it starts and misfires for a few seconds, then clears, some days wont start for a long time.
Has anyone got any ideas what may be wrong. Wouldbe very grateful

thanks for reply, checked injectors, pull rail away from manifold switched ignition on no drips.
turned ignition off, left car with pressure in rail for hours, came back no leaks.
when i crank over engine the spray pattern looks ok to me.

Maybe a overvoltage protection relay issue, they have been know to do funny thinks and give strangle faults.

if this relay faulted, are you saying i could be getting too much voltage to ecu. causing problems, i forgot to say there are no faults in ecu memory.

Is your car (the year and model designation puzzle me a bit) a Distributor or Distributorless All-Electronic ignition?

Surely it would have been cost effective to have it tested before trying all that stuff, as above i'd try OVP relay. :)

Could it be your MAF? Look up the post here by parrot of doom - how to clean your MAF. If you can't find the post, search for it via google. It won't cost you much to clean it and it may well help. Use only Isopropyl Alcohol. I'm guessing yours is a W210.
You could also try just unplugging the MAF first and see if that improves matters.
