Hi all,
I'm looking for some hints on replacing the water pump on my '96 E230 (W210 with 150k miles).
The pump has been noisy for some months and has finally sprung a leak - leaking from behind the pulley then dripping down the belt and onto the floor from the bottom of the alternator pulley.
It looks like an easy job - so my questions are:
1) How do I release the tensioner - looks like this is the next pulley to the right of the pump pulley?
2) The belt itself looks a bit tired so I'll probably replace it. Is there anything else worth doing at the same time?
3) Are any special tools required?
4) Can you guys recommend any good on-line resellers for Mercedes parts? Or should I not cut corners and just buy the pump from my local dealer?
Would appreciate your help - cheers,
Jeremy G
