E240 external temperature sensor

Can anyone explain where the external temperature sensor for my E240 is. The temperature readout increases as the vehicle moves faster, or thats how it appears.

Located as per TV's post and as far as changing on the move it will change as it senses external temp changes but it should not fluctuate wildly, unless of course the external temp is changing rapidly. It should not increase as you say unless it has become dislodged or for some other reason i.e. electrical fault, can't help on that one though.

The sensor may have been moved if the bumper has been off for any reason, and tucked in near the radiator causing the temp. to rise as you describe.

This is an excellent answer and this sensor is easily dislodged even a hard bump on the road can do it. Often see this sensor hanging down inside the bumper when removing the splash plate and it has to be pushed back into position.
