E240 heating & running problems

Anyone got a view on these couple of issues ?

I've got a '98 E240 auto - my aircon broke a while ago & now the heating seems to be "under-powered" - had it re-gased, but it lost the gas and the guy couldn't find the stained leak ! Any idea's on the cost of a dealer replacing the whole AC system ? ...or anyone know a specilist merc guy near Warrington ?

Also - got some running issues - when I'm acclerating it's started to "kangeroo" (...it's an auto) especially when it's cold.

...I've had merc's for 10+ years and won't drive anything else - these are my first real issues - help please.

This is a hard one, if you had it tested with dye and could not find the leak that would mean that the leak is on the inside of the car with the evaporator and heater matrix, this involves a huge amount of dismantling. any components must be sealed and preasure tested. Who did the test ?

Re gear box if it is alright when warm/warm weather you could leave it, for some cars using the same gearbox as yours there is a mod to reduce the oil level to over come this. Its a matter of taking out some oil. Check this out with MB or a auto gearbox center, beware though using MB they seam to have a min £110 charge.
