I have a 04 plate E270 and am concerned at the lack of mileage I am getting between services. When I picked it up from the dealership I got 12k before I had to get a C service. Now have to get another service (B) after only another 12k miles. I'm doing 600 - 700 miles a week of pure motorway and averaging over 40mpg so am not "battering" the car. My previous Merc, a 320 CLK used to do approx 18k miles between services. Am i being unreasonable to expect the ASSYT system to give me more than 12k between services?
Thanks

I would have though that it should be better than that,. at least another 3-4k I have the same problem and it gets a bit expensive coming around that quickly.
I am going to extend mine

I wouldn't want to cover more than 12k without at least an oil and filter change on a diesel engine......12k service intervals sounds reasonable to me.

It may well have the oil type set incorrectly, but "short" service intervals do seem to be an issue on E Class's of that age. You could move to fixed interval servicing - 15,500 miles or 12mths.

I have a late 04 C270 which I pretty well only use for long motorway journeys a couple of times a month. That would have gone to 20K for its first service (I gave up and took it at 18K). Then I didn't even use it that much and it would have gone another 18K but 2yrs was up first.

I dread to think what the oil was like (has never needed topping up) but it's on ServicePlus and I intend to sell it before it runs out. I have seen oil analysis results saying oil from MB Sprinter vans is still good at 20K.

there is plenty of chat about this elsewhere, some of us are only getting 9500 miles between services! and I would be quite happy if I got 12,000! Its all to do with what settings the dealer puts in the system , at service time. If he puts in a lower spec oil setting you will get 9500 (like me). Apparently you can have a fiddle and reset again it via the service settings oin the assyst menu, but I can't find how to do this...
You may find that the B changes to a A or C service (less expensive) as time goes on - mine cnaged from a D to a B over time

Me too - I'd be chuffed with 12k! 9,500 is all I ever get and it counts down mile by mile, whether I'm cruising up and down motorways or fighting through traffic. I keep meaning to ask the dealer to increase it but I may look at the fixed interval option instead. On my E240, topping up the oil used to give me another few thousand but it made no difference at all on my 270.

My car does only motorway miles, approx 120 miles a day from Notts to Brum and back. At weekends, we tend to use swmbo's car so mine just sits on the drive looking pretty.
At my last service with a indie in Nottingham, I mentioned my grievances and they have been getting other E classes in with the same or lower mileages between services. All they could recommend to me was to drop it back in after 3k miles and they would reset the "countdown" for me, which I will be doing. That should stretch my servicing out to 15k (which will still be 2 a year, but is "bearable").
I love my E class (and the 320 CLK I had previously) but this "crap" distant between services on the E grinds against my love of the brand
