What warranty did you get from the garage who sold you the car?
Did it have a full MB service history?
is the tranmission failure collant related ? MB have paid for some rectification cases in the past.
50k is not muc for suspension to be worn - has it got a tow bar?

Throw it back

are you saying you've had it for less than a month and its fallen apart? Wierd - these cars are good for 100's of thousands, not 50k. OK, you could have the Valeo issue on the gearbox but the rear suspension is an odd one.
When you say 'traded in' do you mean that you bought it from a trader?
If so, then whatever the story, you shouldn't be paying a penny. Take it back and demand a refund. Who knows where the end of the problems would be on this car. A good one is great (I love mine) but a bad one could be a major money pit. Get rid. Take it back and demand a full refund under section 14 of the sales of good act.

Lots on the web but as a start, take a look at this guy who had a similar issue.
