Hi All

Something is draining my battery and I think it's the module under the driver's seat.

I had a new (correct for the car) battery fitted at the beginning of the year, to try to resolve the problem, but I've still had a flat battery about 10 times since then.

I am disabled and somewhat housebound, so I sometimes don't go out for a few weeks, but, even so, I don't think the battery should be completely flat.

After having the car started with a booster pack, I make sure that the car is run for at least 30 minutes, but usually for at least an hour, even so, the battery can be flat in less than a week after doing so.

I am a large lass and I struggle to get in and out of the driver's seat, so I have the base of the seat at its lowest setting and I use the electric lever, near the bottom on the side of the seat, to put the back of the seat right down, to get in and then up again, once I am in. I no longer leave the back of the seat down when the car is parked as I thought that this might have been pressing on the module and causing the battery drain, but it is still happening.

Has anyone else experienced this and is it a simple matter of having the module replaced, or could a new module have the same problem? Possibly because of my weight and from having the base of the seat so low?

The problem could well be a seat controller, or a door controller inside the door card or any number of possible places the drain is taking place.
If you have Comand sat nav, that can also drain the battery if its not going to sleep when the car is switched off.

I would suggest you contact Star Tech on the Creekmore Industrial estate in Poole next to Makro and get the car booked in to investigate the drain.
They have the diagnostic equipment to enable a good chance of pinpointing the problem.
I've used them on a couple of occasions and they are a decent Mercedes specialist.

Guessing what it “might” be and starting to change units without a proper diagnosis is a way to just burn through good money.

Get an independent MB specialist with STAR diagnostics to do a diagnostic check, and parasitic drain test.
It may even require an experienced auto electrician to find it, but at least you will know it’s done and reliable again.

there are a plethora of items ‘it could be’ - from headunits not shutting down properly, alarm failures, failing trackers, alternators, etc, etc.
