Welcome to the forum, the only problem with your car is that its all electronically controlled, and you have nothing where you can change anything

If you are anywhere near me in Berkshire I can reset and reactivate the ECU memory for you on that generation of Merc.

This will reset the following:

1. self-recognition of mechanical end-stop of closed throttle valve (via CAN)

2. self-adaption of mixture preperation.

Whilst we are at it (before we reset ECU) we can check the memory for fault codes and note them down for investigation if necessary, and then delete them.

A contribution to my beer money kitty is all that is required.

PM me if required.

what a great offer, i will take you up on that, and you have a pm :)

thx
AL

cant pm and not getting message notifications ... sorry slow replies...
ok will keep this as short as possible....( but it wont work lol )
The car has had since i've had it, an intermittent hunting issue, some times light sometimes heavy enough to stall.
I found an air leak and replaced the big rubber intake promptly.
Not really any difference. I tried an alternative MAF which made the car 10 times worse at least, so reverted back to the new one.
Its been in 3 garages, who have all used diagnostic machines, but not merc specific ones, but were able to reset the ecu faults.
As these were not genuine MB diagnostic machines, im assuming the codes are possibly wrong, the last one displayed, air pump relay fault. ( a what ? :) )

not working due to having disabled family, im already a bit more into my credit card than i would like tbh, so any cheap help and advice would be appreciated...

ok theres a BUT....

The car has, still under warranty too, a prinz multipoint lpg kit, which has been repaired once and diagnostic checked twice.
The intermittent hunting issue is im told a bit too much, on the petrol side...
Im not sure if this is common, it does sound like there is an air "noise" on the nearside of the engine, but it could be the engines supposed to do that. anyone know ?
if you still think its worth taking a peek and resetting everything, im more than happy to pop over to reading one day.
the car isnt immaculate by far, but with the lpg kit etc, i would like to take the time to tidy it up properly etc, but with current engine issues, i cant really afford to put money into it.
thankyou chaps,
AL

hi again,
just a long shot, but is anyone aware if one of the thermostats is faulty it could contribute to intermittent hunting or tickover issues ?
Only reason im asking is i noticed yesterday that with my heater settings on as low as possible, just before the click to cold, hot air was intermittently being chucked through, and i also had ticker over problems for the 1st time yesterday in a few days.
Any idea guys ?
