From what I've read so far I have a Skorpion alarm. Last week I found it just didn't work, central locking doesn't work either. Previously the car's battery was flat. Would this have anything to do with the problem? I've checked the fob battery and this seems to be ok. :(

Hi

If you have checked the basics. Then I wouldn't bother getting it repaired & just get a new alarm fitted. I can't say that the Scorpion alarm is the best out there. Its now outdated technology. If you want up to date stuff. Then get a new one fited. I am not sure it complies with the lastest Thatcham approval.

Hi

Not really. We have had "Toad" fitted & it seems to do the job. There is also Clifford. To many gadgets on the cliffords for my liking. Dam thing always going off in my workshops. Till you get the damm thing to the valet mode.

Have a look around & find a good alarm fitter.

Since the battery was flat have you tried 'resetting' the key fob via the sensor?

When I got my car 2 of the spare fobs did not work even with new batteries in them. I was going to dispose of them when I read the manual which described how to reset them - something like holding down the button or pressing twice did the trick and all was fine. Check your book and if theres no mention I'll tell you what mine says

Ian, (grasmere)
I've tried a few combinations of key pressing etc, just in case it was something like resetting the alarm by this method, but no success. I haven't got a manual for the alarm so it might be an idea to repeat what your manual says on the matter... thanks.

Hi Roly

This is for the MBSS installed in my C220 D 1996, I think its a Scorpion, but no way to tell as far as I can see. In my 4 page MBSS booklet there is no mention of resetting a problem system. The process is however referred to in the manual as 'synchronising the lock system if the car cannot be locked or unlocked', on page 40 in mine.

Quote: . . .
1. Aim the transmitter of the remote control at the receiver in the interior mirror and press transmitter button briefly twice.
2. Turn the key in the steering lock to position 2 within about 30 seconds.
3. The lock system is then operational again.
. . . Unquote.

Good luck :)

Ian
