Hi,I`m having trouble with my 280 it goes from drive into neutral as your driving along gear shift is still in drive then have to stop wait a little while and then off to go again.HELP HELP HELP.
Which model is it - 124 or 210? It depends which gear is being lost. It can be a couple of things. 4th gear going is quite common and normally points to worn inards and a re-build. But normally once its gone its gone. It can be the hydraulic valve sticking due to age or a bit of crud in the oil. Is it hot or cold when it happens? Next time it happens, try moving the gearlever into 3rd while still rolling and see if drive returns, then plonk it into D again. This exercises the valve and hopefully this is the problem. Cheaper than a rebuild.
