Just pure curiosity..
This happened to my last E class and it cost me a fair few bob..
Just curios to see if anyone can offer alternative opinions to see if i was ripped off.
At the time I knew nothing at all with regards to what was under the hood of a car.
So, parked up the car, taking wife into hospital.
Came out an hour later and the alarm fob wouldnt work. doors wouldnt open. Opened door with key, alarm went off. opened bonnet and couldnt disable alarm (didnt think of disconecting battery... knew nothing then)
Key wouldnt start car. alarm going off.
I thought it was the battery in alarm fob - so got a new battery from 24hr garage. Nope, wouldnt work.
Ended up having car towed home.
Mobile electrician came out, had a nosey and declared a failed ECU. £800 later I had a recon'd ECU, and a new cat 1 toad alarm...
Always niggled me that I was ripped off but such was life at the time.
Any thoughts?
