Hello, I'm looking to purchase an E300 hybrid. I know the early batteries on the S class were not repairable but from around 2014 they were.

Does anyone one know if this a similar case for a e class. I'm guessing it would be but with manufacturers who knows

Kind regards

Jon

There’s been a few threads recently about the E class hybrids as well as news articles advising that battery longevity is very poor and costs are £10-15k, leaving many horrified owners in a very sad situation. Either cough up or scrap it. A few systems also depend on the battery so you don’t have option to curse it and drive it on the engine alone.

IIRC no one would touch one with a barge pole.

If you want a hybrid, get a Lexus!

^ +1 why buy into the Guinea pig market - I think you answered your own question buyer beware regardless of how good a deal it seems - I wouldn’t buy one or run one without a bullet proof warranty while I owned the car at least Toyota back their technology with a solid 10 year guarantee

I had a new one in 2014 and it gave me 2 years of trouble free driving, I loved it and it was fairly quick.

I do agree with other posters though to buy one now could be very expensive so I would not consider it without a decent warranty.

I wouldn’t have one with a warranty!

Warranties are too much of a pita and usually not in your favour. The best warranty is the law! but to get the best of that you need the car from new especially if the faults don’t surface quickly

I got mine at three years old and it had dropped a lot of value in that time because nobody wanted to take on the battery.
It's still going strong but I said that about the ABS on my Honda that has a similar dismal reputation and it's now in a cardboard box with new 'manual' pipes fitted.
