E300 estate parcel shelf

Hi all. I have just replaced my C220D with a E300 D estate. It is a 1995 (M). There is no parcel shelf in it and to be honest, I cannot see how one fits. Should it have one? If so, where is the best place to source one? All help is greatly appreciated

doesnt have one but has a retractable cover

have never seen a parcel shelf on a 124 estate (it would be vast in size). most have a retractable (rolled up ) luggage cover which fits behind the rear seats and you unroll it and clip to the two metal fittings on the rear door under the window. When you lift up the door the cover extends and goes with it. Also in the same fitting (attached to back of rear seats) you have the luggage safety net which also unrolls and goes up to the ceiling to provide some protection from luggage flying forward in the event of a crash. If you have nothing behind the rear seats like this you need to go find one, either from a breaker or order new (expensive no doubt).

Got one 2nd hand in v. good nick. £70 which I thought was ok. Don't know how much they are new. It was exactly as you said Keith. Thanks for the help
