E300, Intermitent Indicators, Wipers, Windows?????

Hi folks,

Wondering if anybody has ever had the following problem with there mercedes.

My car for some reason suddenly now has a major problem with wipers stuttering and electric windows sometimes working and sometimes not. My indicators can be on and they stop for 2 seconds and start again. This also happens with most of the function of the car apart from the heaters which are fine. The car in booked in for repair at a local mercedes garage, just looking to see if anybody has had a similar problem so the garage cant tell me its a million and one things.

oh oh oh, And I also get the BAS,ABS, thing, I think at some point every mercedes owner gets this.

Problem sounds like a faulty combination relay. Normally the solder cracks around the printed circuit board causing the aforementioned problems. New relay is about £70 but maybe possible to repair using a soldering kit.

On mine (124 model so maybe different to yours), the relay box is in the engine compartment immediately behind the fuse box, accessible by unclipping a plastic cover. Get the part code for this part from your local dealer to locate the correct relay (part code should be printed on the relay). Maybe worth investing in a Haynes/Brooklands manual?
