E300D 124 Top speed – tested.

I thought you would be interested to know that my E300D saloon auto has a Vmax of and indicated 125mph. She had no more to give – this was absolutely flat out. Acceleration really tailed off after 110.

It also does 36-38 mpg when driven gently-average. Obviously these figures mpg and Vmax do not happen simultaneously.

Thats not bad is it, the gearing on these cars is too low to get any more, nice cars though

I drove through Germany once in mine with the cruise control on at about 110mph and used up a tank of fuel in under 300 miles. Normally get about 500 miles between fill ups.

Simon – yup that make sense!

This is the first car I’ve had that returns a good 1-2 MPG better cruising about the local roads doing odd jobs than it does on the motorway at a steady 75mpg!

My friends took the pi$$ when I first got it…. Until we went off on a boys trip out. Everyone had lots of room, it’s quiet, feels planted and the boot’s huge. There has been a notable lack of discussion on that point now .

Quality cars - pretty simple and quite powerful really. It's got about 50bhp more than the other 300d!

Yup These cars are the best. Absolutely bombproof as well. MOT d mine today at 140000
failed on ball joints only which is understandable but still drives like a dream.

Mines still running at 520,000 miles. Although struggling to start at the mo with a glow plug snapped in the cylinderhead

My E300TD got to 135mph before the limiter came on.
