If the glow plug light comes back on after the car has started then one or more of the glow plugs have failed. They can seize in the head and snap off whilst removing them so proceed with caution.

Your garage can check your glow plugs. If its number 1 or 6 they can be replaced easily. If its number 234 or 5 you have to lift the manifold and they recommend replacing all when you have the maniflod lifted. I replaced number 1 and when i got home number 2 had blown so back to the garage and i replaced all.As previously stated you need to take care when removing and sometimes a little heat helps.

I replaced all six glowplugs and heater warning light still stayed on.
Discovered that one of the plug connectors was broken inside so check before you replace the manifold that all six plug connectors are ok.
Mercedes Benz quality has slipped.
