E300td Engine temparature

Hi,
I have a E330td that I think needs a thermostat, she takes an age to warm up and runs around 65degrees C. So when I fit the new stat when kind of temparature should I expect to see and do deisel engines improve on economy when running warmer AKA petrol engines.

One last thing, I have a manual AC system fitted and the fan will only run very slowly until the engine is warm sometimes taking 20 miles when cold outside, once warm the system operates normaly,

Are my problems related?

I have an E300, the temperature never moves off 80 degrees C despite the outside temp. Takes about 10 minutes normal driving to get up there.

Id say your problem is definately thermostat related
