Latch holding passenger side rear seat is jammed locked. The lever moves as normal but the latch does not release the seat. Can't see how to work on it without the seat down.
Any ideas?

I hope I'm not being silly Napoleon, but don't you have to fold the offside (driver's side) seat first. That's what it says in the handbook for my C250TD Estate - otherwise the nearside won't release and fold; just as you say, the catch moves but the seat backrest doesn't.

Worth a try?

Cheers and beers

Thanks. Wish it were that easy. The drivers side goes down no problem then left with the passenger side stuck and the bar across.

Ah... I've just had a good look at mine; crikey, this looks to be a problem.

On the W202 estate the latch and body mounted "ring" is completely hidden when the seat is upright. I don't see any way of getting at it. The mechanism looks to be much like the one that latches the doors.

One thing I did notice was that, as you lift the lever, the lever appears to lift a sort of semi-concealed "block" that sits immediately beneath it - on mine it has a red colour. It seems as though this block is part of the latch mechanism. If this block is not being levered upwards by the lever it might be worth seeing if you can prise it up with something. Alternatively, I presume you have tried pushing the seat back and bar firmly into the locked position whilst operating the latch lever - just in case it's dried grease that's holding it.

I'm grasping at straws really, and I'm going to make sure I grease the latch mechanism so it operates smoothly.

Best of luck
