Hi,

Just wanted to share my success story with any E300TD owners. As you are aware from the 1'st of July 2007 there is no tax to pay on bio diesel or veg oil as long as you use less than 2500 litres per year.

I converted my E300TD 1998 (140,000 miles) last week to run on a mix of diesel and clean new veg oil from cash and carry by using a simple preheating block just before the fuel filter. I have been running a 60% veg oil, 40% diesel mix for the week and have had no problems at all. If anything, it seems to run smoother and there is no smell.

The block is linked up to the ingition switch via the fusebox, on a cold day, you just turn the key, wait 2 mins while you listen to the radio, relight the glow plugs once more and it starts first time with no smoke or hesitation.

I will take some photos tomorrow and post them so you can see the setup and where I have mounted the device.

Any ideas or comments would be very welcome.

Thanks

Amer

Yes I read that thread with some interest...
however I don't understand how using veg oil can create a leak. I know many other people (non merc) who use veg oil without any issue.
