Hi

No steering damper that can be replaced like the steering box models. There is bound to be damping built into the rack though.

i think my problem is ARB bushes and bottom ball joint. basically when driving over bumps and uneven roads i get knocking noises like the shocks are knackered, and i have to keep a tight grip on bad roads because the steering wants to follow the bumps and grooves. when coming back into the inside lane on the motorway if i run over lorrys tram lines in the road i feel like im going to be thrown off the road. had shocks check and there all fine, no leakes etc. ive priced up the parts i need from mercedes and they seem very cheap to be honest.

am i on the right track?

Yes you are.

What wheels have you got?

BTW they do have steering dampers. Its intergrated within the rack.

Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
Laser alignment worked brilliantly for me, it made the car go from driving a mattress to driving a train.

Expensive but worth it - make sure you get any suspension work done before the alignment. Bushes, ARB links, etc.

The knocking is almost certainly the ARB links. Very simple job and cheap.
