trading it in next wk for a S320 cdi (2004).

black met with cream leather & fully loaded..i think !


gonna have various questions over the next wee while so, please bare with me !.

does the model have the soft close doors ? or just the L model ?

Black with cream looks fabulous. I also came from E's to the S320cdi. I stupidly borrowed one for a test drive and fell in love. Crazily I've done nearly 20k private miles in the first year of my ownership. Just such a joy to drive.

Soft close doors are an option, but not worth it IMO. What Car said if you like driving buy the saloon; if you like being driven buy the limo.

The lumbar support is electrically controlled by a little wheel on the front edge of the front seats. Many new owners never notice it. It is pretty direct and many find the low settings like 1 or 2 or 1.5 more than adequate.

The extras I have are fairly few but are the ones I really wanted: -Bi-Xenon headlamps; walnut trim; memory for drivers and passengers seats, mirrors and steering wheel; heated seats; parktronic; 6x CD changer; special alloy wheels bigger at rear than at front; and telephone pre-wiring.

Your MB dealer can print off from the computer all the extras on yours.

I had an S class in Spain last trip, slammed the door 3 times before the driver told me it had soft close

Telephone prep, Climate Control, Electric memory seats, Electric sunroof, foldback mirrors,DVD, Park distance control, distronic ( whatever that is ) Xenon lights, KEYLESS GO !! , massage/heated seats , wood / leather wheel , burr walnut wood , 6 cd changer, twin spoke alloys...........

The keyless thing has to be the coolest toy :grin:

prob more things....need to dig out spec from dealer sheet.

this is one BIG vehicle compared to my E320 !.

Nice spec. Very. If you put the car in your signature, as I have, (year, model etc) it helps others when you have a query. Keep us posted.

Has it got COMAND ? Are you getting it from MB of AYR or GH ?

COMAND is standard on the S class. And leather.

Distronic is the nicest extra in my veiw, it is a radar controlled cruise, you can set the distance from the car in front, and it will keep it there, if the trafic slows down,your car slows down keeping the same distance, if the traffic stops, your car will stop and start when the other traffic moves off. it great to use

If you are going along a B road and the traffic is doing 40 mph, set the distronic to 45 and your car will follow keeping the same distance

No, to do that you need the Lexus that self steers following the white line in the road, I have no idea what happens when the white line stops

comand yes....

getting the car from MB, giffnock, glasgow....

ayr & GH didnt have the color / spec i wanted...I hate that dark birds eye maple wood ....and er............the sales guys in ayr ( not GH ) were way to pushy to get the sale the same dam day i test drive it....NO FRIGGIN CHANCE....there sales manner is way to pushy for my liking

went to giffnock to see an 2005 new E320 , but they all had the birds eye crap wood.
the very nice ( none pushy & very helpful ) sales guy said there was a S class 320 just come in 30 mins ago...if i might be intrested....
went to see it...WOW .
My fav color scheme....MET BLACK WITH FULL CREAM LEATHER..
It was very dirty,outside and inside ( just came in remember ), but i liked her right away.....love at first sight....
Off today to sign the papers and get em to put on my private plate BEFORE i drive her out the forcourt...

should get her by mon / tues latest...need couple days to get plate changed over.

Is it worth joining the offical MB OWNERS CLUB ?

Oh yeh....i paid £720 to get another yrs warrenty on top of the 12 mth standard they give you.
keep the car for 2yr, trade it in for newer one.

COMAND unfortunately (at least for me) was not standard on the S CLASS, that's why I am retrofitting COMAND on mine . If it was standard then MB can fit one for me for free !
It is now standard on the W221, and I suspect became standard from 2003+ .... COMAND 2.0

Perhaps it became standard when they did the facelift? It certainly was standard on the 05 ones.
