I have found it difficult to start after approx 12 hour standing and impossible when below 4.5 degrees without easy start. This has been happening over an 18 month period. Finally narrowed it down to fuel being vaccuum'd back toward the fuel tank. If I crack open the fuel cap at night it will start no problem regardless of temperature, so I bought a new fuel cap following info on this forum. This has made no difference. Still will only start when I crack open new fuel cap in the evening. Anyone got any bright ideas.

P.S. I note many people are interested in fuels, mpg etc. My experience -- have been using kerosene with a little oil and acetone this gives approx 10% less fuel return than diesel but is damn cheap. Using diesel I get around 47 mpg driving around town this will rise to 53 on mway. Impressive eh!!! Oh and I have turned up the fuel pressure as well.

Thanks for that. Serious ball ache to get at. My car is an estate and I have located the vent pipe in the rear. It goes into the chassis have looked everywhere but believe I would have to remove wheel, wheel arch trim etc and realistically need a ramp. My fix has been to slit the vent pipe with stanley knife this way I will see whether this fixes. I can always tape up the slit if it works.
Thanks once again for your help.
