If it "hangs on " to the first change too long because of temperature sensing then surely it will jolt.
Does the car have a W & S switch, does it make a difference.

Switching from C and S makes no difference. The RPMs take off (gain of over 1000rpm sometimes) as it changes upwards. It only does it once. As you here the engine note change, lift off the go pedal to minimise the shut.

I've been reading about transmission flares on sprinter forums, don't know how relevant this is to a 722.9 box.

Thanks! I've also googled a lot.

#2 in this thread:

Elgringo said:
"Have seen several faults simular with 7g transmissions need to check gear box adaptations and speed sensor information."

I think it's a good answer, but I can't understand if software needs to be adjusted every time of a gear-fluid change.

The date of my car is 1/2007. I just found some interesseting info copied by myself into this thread - earlier:

"ECU and transmission software updates for the 211.022:

P-B-27.00/87b FEB07 – transmission flare between 1-2 or 2-3 when cold or first shifts of the day
S-B-27.00/104 APR08 – hesitation accelerating back up from low speeds
S-B-27.00/105 APR08 – harsh 1-2
S-B-27.00/107a OCT08 – uncomfortable shifts 1-2, 2-3, 3-2, and 2-1

Haven't seen the dates above. Could the line with "hesitation" be the same symptoms as my problem in #17?

Hi there.

I know it's a long shot but have you managed to fix this issues. I got the same issues with my e320 2008 77k miles. Cheers.

It’s an old thread buddy , has the car got any diagnostic fault codes ?
Your gearbox should have had a fluid and filter change at 37500 miles and is due another one about now .

Wighty, thanks for your answer.

Gear box has had the fluid and the filter change at 62000 miles.
Car got a diagnostic test ( not with star ), got some fault codes, but nothing to lead to this symptoms.

Depending on where you live in London , members may be able to recommend a good MB Independent who might be able to help ?
You could probably do with Star

You are bit out on a limb there , the nearest MB Independent is probably AMF Automotive ( @alexanderfoti ), who is based in Kent . I know that his garage is closed at the moment because of the Coronavirus but when he opens again , that is who I would go to

S500 (W222) 2014. Turbo 4.7 V8 with loads of toys. Superfast luxury.
I am thinking of a car that uses the 7g box and am scanning all the info that I can get because of this problem, I am trying to work out the years where this complaint stopped and the cure if there is one
My old E500 was harsh between 1-2 if under hard throttle. Solution was to leave it in comfort mode for the gearbox, pulled away in 2nd problem solved.

Cheers. I'll give him a ring when he opens.
