The SRS light stays on and does not go off so I went to dealer andhe ran diagnositics and tells me that the passenger sensor pad and SRS control unit are both faulty . The error codes cannot be reset and has suggested to replace both at a total cost of £770 . The car has only done 46K miles and find it difficult to believe that both of them can go faulty at the same time ?
Has anyone experienced this and what is teh easiest way to fix it without spending megabucks ! - Bert

Do the seat recognition pad first.

VERY common on all MB's to go wrong.

Get the part your self and get either a trimmer or MB specialist to fit it. Them have the fault codes erased after.

Child Seat Recognition unit

Had the same symptoms, replaced the sensor pad in the seat and cured the problem. It's not a difficult job to do (about 1.5 hrs) just take your time when removing the seat and cover. The unit cost £108.86 (inc vat) and the P/N is 210-821-2151

Thank you all for sharing your experiences . Can some one tell me what precautions needs to be taken when changing sensor pads on passenger seat - e.g do we need to disconnect the battery before any works etc ??
Thanks - Bert

Yes, just keep the ignition off. You can pre-test the new unit by unplugging the yellow connector under the passenger seat and plugging the lead into the new sensor socket. The SRS light should go off as normal about 6 secs after the ignition is turned on.

W210 SRS light on

Hi - Thanks - I received the new sensor pad which looks like a floppy circuit board with a white box in the middle . I laid it on front passenger seat and plugged it in place of original and switched car on and SRS light still does not go off - I am now lost as to what else could be faulty - Any clues ? Thanks
