E320 CDi Elegance 4d Tip Auto 2000/X

What should I be looking out for on a E320 CDi Elegance 4d Tip Auto 2000/X with 70,000 miles on the clock? Obviously rust.... but also and I know I am probably going to sound stupid hear but do the diesels have a cam belt that needs changing I know that the petrol ones have a chain so they never need it but not sure about the Diesels.

Also generally is the E320 CDI a good engine to opt for? I was reading that they have over 190 BHp ! is this true?

The 320CDI is a wonderful engine. It has nearly 200 BHP and 470Nm torque.
Glow plugs do fail occasionally and the MAS but apart from that not much else. Yes it has a duplex chain.
How much are they asking for this one?

What is an MAS? and how long much (careful driving) milage do you recon I would get out of a full tank of diesel on this? I think its up for around 7000k

MAS = Air Flow Meter or MAF
Depending upon how you drive it and if it has the standard 65ltr tank or the optional 80 ltr tank fitted. You should be able to get close to 600 miles from the standard tank. You can see the fuel economy from mine in my signature.

No as long as it has been well maintained and repaired. If it has been looked after there should be a fair pile of receipts, including one for an ATF change as well as some if not all glow plugs and a MAS at some time in its life. If they are not there how well has it been looked after???

Its up with a dealer and I have just phoned him. He will come down to £6600 but only as a trade sale so he wont cover it wit hany warranty. Also it has a main dealer service history upto 48,000 niles but it hasent had any service since then. So that will staight away cost a few quid..

I would estimate that it requires at least £2,000 of servicing/repairs. At dealers yr 2000 E320CDI's are usually quite a lot more than this one.
