My 2000 E320 CDI has recently developed a noise like an engine with the air cleaner removed. When the engine is started from cold in a morning it sounds normal then after about a minute, still on tickover it starts making a deep induction type noise as if you had removed the air filter. If you increase the engine speed to about 1500 rpm the noise cuts off but returns as soon as the engine speed is reduced below this level. If the engine is run at a speed around 1200 to 1500 rpm the noise comes and goes intermitently.
Has anyone out there any ideas?, may be the sort of thing Piestore could explain.
