E320 CDI Hands free kit

Would like to fit a hands free kit for my Nokia 6021 to my 04 E320 CDI. As far as I can make out the Merc kit does not cater for this phone (plus the cost is extortionate anyway!). Before I 'venture forth' into a internet search of hands free kits I was hoping someone could advise me. There are many hands-free kits that allow a phone to be mounted on a bracket etc but if possible I'd like something that operated like the Merc kit i.e. used the buttons on steering wheel and on the COMAND system but cost a fraction of the price. Is such a combination possible or am I being unrealistic?
Any help/advice appreciated.

Not sure. Nothing obvious. How would I know?

Wow, that's brilliant. Never knew this facility existed - now added it to my favourites. Thanks for the info.

No mention of a telephone pre-wire option on the list although options 21N & 668 are blank.

Brian, if you are going with the Nokia CARk 91 option, there are always some on Ebay, if you have another car in the family, get another kit for that. For the amount of time I use the phone in the car, it does not take much effort to turn down the VC on the radio.

The Cark 91 with pop port adaptor is not a really good combination. I would recommend the Nokia CK7W and CR21 Cradle with AXF 15S Ae Coupler. This kit is also bluetooth enabled so if use another phone you can also use the car kit. I would also recommend the Radio Mute lead, this routes the audio through the car speakers and mutes the audio from the radio/cd at the same time.

I bought a e320cdi 2003 a month ago.

There is a prewired cradle but not suitable for my nokia 6021.

Does anyone know if it just a case of getting a new cradle from the dealer?

yes,you need the B67875842 for the 6021 cost £131.00 02 buy a Nokia 6210, 6310 or6310i from Ebay for around £20 like I did, and others, that will fit the cradle that you have, should be B6785822 in your car.

Malcolm

This was how I did it (£16 + £4 p&p thanks for the heads up Malcolm)

Just wondering, is the cradle swappable (is that a word?) on a 2003 W211?

It isn't on mine (has the coiled lead running directly to it)

Thanks Malcolm - I take it if I quote the part number to the dealer they will be able to supply and it should be straight forward to fit.

Someone posted this week that Tesco are selling new 6310i camara phones at £70 cant be bad, that would be half the price of a new cradle.

That is the price if you take a Tesco Mobile contract. If you don't want to switch providers, stick to ebay. There are often 6230/6320i on there at good prices.

I went to Mercedes World in Surrey and they found me the part which cost exactly £131. The technician went to fit it in the car but unfortunately because the kit in the car is already prewired to use as a hand set to take private calls it needs to be stripped out. He said it would cost a fortune to take out and put in the new cradle!

Its the original prewire kit which was factory configured and cannot be changed without, as he said, a lot of expense. They got a lot of complaints (I suspect as it was a particulary stupid design)a nd as a result, produced the UHI swappable cradle system. Sadly this wasn't introduced until Mid 04. Thats what the £131 cradles are for.

It is frustrating.

I guess I better buy one of the old phones that fit the current cradle!
