My E320CDI has just been serviced - As I expected 2 injectors were faulty, the garage also suggested changing the MAF as they thought that it was not performing as well as it should (I know that they gradually loose performance before failing)
What a transformation, on start up, the engine fires on the first turn and it is immediately much smoother with no vibration into the cabin, once warmed up it is silent at motorway speeds (It really wasn't bad before).
Power is also increased, this is especially noticable in top gear between 60 and 90mph - It builds speed so efforlessly and quickly, with almost no change in engine noise (which did lead to me going quicker than I thought at times)
The best bit is the increase in fuel economy, I have noticed that the economy has been dropping between services (up to the first service 37.2 mpg up to the second 35.2mpg up the the third 34.3mpg). This morning, I drove to Southampton and got 45.1mpg - I have never seen more than 41mpg on the trip, and usually it shows 38 - 39 mpg - and I was not hanging about, somewhere between 70 and 80mph.
The guys at WDM did a great job - yes it did hit the wallet a bit at just over £800, however that included a B service, 2 injectors, MAF and 2 front tyres - which all things considered isn't too bad at all.
Now I feel that the car is ready for another 50k miles (which will take it over 200k) so long as the rust doesn't kill it first
