Hi,

I'm thinking of purchasing the following E320 CDI, is there anything I need to look out for? and is this a resonable price for this spec?

I've been thinking of buying one for ages, and this is the only one I've found with the spec I want.

Miles: 68K
£16,995

Spec:
• Full AMG Factory Body Kit in Silver
• 18 inch AMG Alloys with good recent tyres all round
• AMG lowered Sports Suspension
• Panoramic Electric tilt and slide Sunroof
• Full Light Grey Heated Leather Seats with Drivers Memory
• Real Walnut Wood trim
• COMAND Sat Nav with latest 2008 Version 8.0 DVD Disk with TMC
• Dolby 7.1 ProLogic HiFi with Harmon Kardon upgraded speakers, Amps and SubWoofer, with built-in DVD Player and MP3 Player
• 6 Disk hidden dash mounted CD Player
• Active Bi-Xenon lights - (lights turn with you when you turn corners)
• Front and Rear Parking Sensors with audio and visual displays
• Refrigerated centre console storage – great for a cold coke in summer!
• Full Hands Free Phone Prep with in-armrest dock
• Mirrors Fold and steering wheel moves out of the way on exiting the car
• Full Service Record with recent full service
• 67K miles, mainly motorway driving
• Injectors recently serviced, cleaned and re-tipped
• Tuned engine with outstanding performance AND increased fuel economy. It performs like a V8 AND regularly returns up to 45MPG on motorway runs!

Thanks in advance

Here are a couple of thoughts.
Active xenon - were they available then? I didn't think so.
Refrigerated centre console - so has a 200 classic (standard feature)
Phone Prep - check if its UHI (swappable cradle) or fixed. They changed mid/late 04 so yours could be the erlier model. I looked at a similar age 320cdi and it was fixed. You may not be able to use it.
18" alloys - check the ride - it could be bone jarring.
And reading between the lines, sure its got 68k but wider wheels, body kit and chipped, its probably been thrashed and has the equivalent of 130k wear on it. The only reason the injectors needed maintenance is because of the chip for example - normally they last a lot longer than that but chips do cause excessive injector wear. Do check the fmbsh and that things like the gearbox oil have been attended to - irrespective of what it says on the service schedule.
It does sound a nice spec, but the price seems a bit steep to me too.

As per above really, it should have the IL6 engine which is very good for many miles. I do wonder what the original trim was if it has Walnut trim, that was standard to the Elegance model however you could get it on Avantgarde if you specified it. Not sure what the brown wood looks like next to the grey leather.

Thanks guys for all your input, it has given me some things to think about.

I think it may be worth me waiting and seeing if I can find a "54" or "05" reg with the AMG kit, but without being tuned, I did worry when it said it was tuned. It sounds like a few things were ironed out in the later models.

£320 Cdi W211 is very good. FSH essential. This build has typical 13K service intervals. I have a 113K one with all the spec you show including 18" AMGs. Tyres tend to last about 18K miles NSF similar to C Class do tend to wear slightly on inside edge. Other than this watch out for bush in lower suspension arms can wear and unlike previous model is new arm. Circa £350 main dealer fit. After age the door locks can go - dealer fit circa £275. Electric folding mirror wires can stretch and break meaning complete mirror assembly £350. Panoramic roof great but unless you keep the leading edge clean and lubricated with a lubricant spray the front windscreen can creak on it and become irritating. Overall good buy. Price expectation no more than £13.5K
