When we bought it I seen that the last owner spend thousands on it but im not too sure if he changed the oil. I have seen that this one is a 'Sealed For Life' one and out local non Mercedes mechanic couldn't drain it properly without taking the pan off.
The reader we used was given to us it quite expensive it tells us everything temps whats wrong with full codes and quite a few things all round.

The sealed for life bit got changed over 10 years ago , replaced by "sealed until death" if you don't service it . About £250 at an MB Independent that knows what they are doing

Ok m8 thx a lot for helping I will see what happens and we might revert back to the old Mercedes e320 2001 as it was much more reliable and easy to fix.

Mine was starting to judder and was much improved by a filter change and transmission flush. 'Favourite' problem areas with this transmission are the conductor plate which contains the speed sensor and the connector bush which has 'O' rings that can fail allowing fluid to pass up the wiring loom and damage the transmission control unit. There's a very good sticky at the top of this section explaining conductor plate replacement

I'm going to collect my new car Wednesday (2004 W211 E320 cdi), I was unsure about taking out the AA warranty @ £400 but after reading this thread I think I will. How do I tell if the radiator has been changed in the past. It's a own owner car from new with 55k miles. Having not tested the car yet and only paid a deposit because the car is 180 miles away. Any other pre purchase "look outs" please?
I probably wouldn't bother, just save your cash for a rainy day. From what I understand such policies aren't worth the paper they're written on, although if anyone has any positive experiences with this particular product I'll stand corrected.

2007 E320CDI SPORT 1994 E220
Hi all.

I've stumbled across this (amazing) forum having recently bought a 2007 E320CDI Sport - and seem to be having similar problems.

Not so much groaning noises (not yet anyway), but on several occasions my car has either;
1) got stuck in gear and not change (also couldn't change the driving mode on this occasion)
2) felt a kick or a jerk and the car slipped out of gear and into what seemed like Neutral
3) changing gear was fine but significantly lost power
4) and also just earlier - car started to shake/judder and when I came to a stop, it just stalled/cut out.

On each occasion - it seems a switching OFF and switching back ON of the engine resolved the problem.

I wonder if I've got the same issue as the OP re glycol being present in the ATF fluid - or will a gearbox oil & filter change fix the problem?

Thanks
Debz

Welcome ,
Doubt you have Glycol in the atf , that was in cars a few years before yours (which is the same as mine) .
First port of call is an MB specialist for a check for fault codes .
