I have a 1999 e320 full service history 96000 miles on the clock car has been in Spain for last 2 years
Came back to the UK last week and the weather is 0 - 3c
When i start the car and put into reverse to get off my drive its fine but when i go into drive the revs cut back and then jumps quite hard after 10 seconds... also i had to drive 1/2 a mile before it would change up past second gear... once warmed up car is fine... Is the cold affecting the gear box??? I realise the gearbox is sealed so cant be oil level??? can it??
hope you can help
Regards
Steve

The gearbox fluid should be changed after 60k miles as the rules have changed, so do change it along with the filter.

The MAF could also cause this

Steve, this needs doing by an indie the sump has to be taken off and needs great care.

The MAF is the mass air filter that sets up the engine for the correct mixture, when this fails the mixture can be so weak that the car has no power and the car gearbox does not know what to do
