E320 W210 Engine "missing"

Hello all, I have an E320 Avantgarde which has covered 129k miles with full service history equally slit between supplying main dealer and a company called twin star in Wembley who are, I believe, a MB specialist. My problem is that when the engine is idling (around 700 rpm) the engine is only running on 5 cylinders. If you apply a little throttle, say to 1500 rpm, the engine runs on all 6 cylinders. Occasionally when driving, it also feel sthet it has dropped down to 5 cylinders. Has any one got any suggestions. Many thanks

Is it petrol of diesel? A star check will pin point exactly which cylinder is at fault

If petrol then a coil, or leads, or plugs, or injector.

If diesel then an injector i would say.

Plugs or leads probably. I used to get an idle knock from time to time on my 240. Turned out to be leads on both occasions. Nothing showed up on diagnostics and I had a hell of a job getting it sorted ("computer says its fine" so dealer ran out of ideas) but eventually a new set of leads (fitted by an indie) and she was like new again.
