E320 Wheel Caps

Are all MB wheel caps (center emblem) plastic? I fussed at my dealer and he gave me a set of four to replace. He said this was standard for MB. One would think MB would make this a metal part since it's a luxury vehicle :?:

Its good plastic though! :lol:
To be fair, it's non structural, lighter weight and won't corrode. On balance I think plastic is better for this bit.

Anyone know how chrome plate can be applied to plastic on the centre caps?
I have some Chrome original MB caps for sale - £15 inc delivery.

This is one part of an Eclass that won't rust. Maybe next time they will make the shell plastic!!!.
