i have a 7mth old e320cdi from new and the first service is due soon.

it's a B service (12,500 miles).

i've called a few dealerships and can't get a sensible answer from them about how much the service will be......

from £252 to £445

some were even confused that the B service should be 2 spanners and mine was only showing one!

does anyone have an idea of what is a reasonable cost for the B service

from reading the forum i think i'll be supplying my own oil!
i've yet to read the book but is mobil 1 0w40 7litres of required?

i live in the Hertfordshire area.

Any advice on above would be very welcome.

Hi

It takes over 8 litres of oil for a 300 turbodiesel.

Be wary!

I phoned around for the A-service on my wife?s 2003 C-Class @ 11,000 miles. Quote ranged from £189 to £275.

Booked car in for £189 quote.

Went to collect car and was promptly asked to cough up £250. I refused, stating that I was quoted £189. ?Ah, Sir? they said ?you were quoted for the semi-synthetic oil, and for the old C-Class model by mistake.?

Not true I say, since the car was already registered on their service system due to number of warranty claims it has had (!) and was booked in under its registration number.

Anyhow, I mumbled the words Trading Standards to them and they conceded to the original quote.

Get the name of the person who gives you the quote, and check that they use the right oil. Write same on work docket when leaving your car. Just because they are an M-B stealer doesn?t mean you should trust them.

It bothers me that they could put any old rubbish in and you'd never know - there's not even a dipstick now so you can't see the oil. You'd never know in a deisel anyway, as the oil goes black straight away.

Just had my CLK270 serviced, a B Service, 34k miles. It cost in total the grand sum of £555, and the oil was the biggest single item beyond the service cost.

It does drive better now (new brake pads), but can't help feeling it's a bit top-ish. Would also have liked it if they had cleaned inside...
