e320cdi.. 210model ..2002year .. battery problem ... is it a massive discharge ... alarm problem goes of for no reason over last 2 weeks .....battery has allways been strong..yesterday bat went flat ..recharged .. alarm still seams to work ..siren works .carwould not turn over .. left bat in car and diconnected leads..put charger on and boosted for about 5 or 6 hours .. diconnected charger.. checked voltage it showed 13.3volts .. reconnected leads .checked again. now after no more than 45seconds as expected had dropped to12.80 ... 10seconds later tried to start it just got a click ...after another 10seconds checked voltage again now showing only 11..65volts could this be a massive discharge....qne week earlier battery went flat after alarm went of during the night ..boosted it for less than 4 hours and car started easily... help help ...hope one of u techs can solve it ........thanks in antisipation

If it is the original battery then a cell could have gone partial open circuit, this happens in the cold weather.

Only by connecting an ammeter in series or using a DC shunt meter will you know if there is a problem,, for the battery to go flat so quickly, it would have to be a massive drain / short and you would have some smoke coming from a faulty component.

I think that you will find that it is just the battery,

Do not buy an unbranded battery Bosch,Varta, exide, lucas Banner,, they are all good,,so no house name.
Costco and macro are cheap as are Bosch service centers and the local factors that supply the local garages

Varta are a huge outfit, Colechelle does not like them, but i have had no reason to complain. Its guaranteed anyway.

A low / bad battery can cause so many problems,,see what happens now
