Hello all, first thread so be gentle.

I'm buying the above on a 16 or 17 plate. Ive owned E classes before, all from new. In my experience they are near bullet proof as a 4 cylinder. Is there any known issue (s) with the V6 that i need to know. And what seem to be the normal servicing costs on a 15-20000 miles pa usage?

The only issue you need to know is that the V6 is brilliant compared to any 4 cyclinder! Mercedes servicing is at 15k miles or 12 months so you will need to budget for one oil change and one major service every two years.

The OM642 has been in production in different guises since 2005 so you are buying a car with an engine which has been continually improved. The only real issue is the oil cooler seals leaking due to it sitting in the hot vee of the engine but this may have been solved with better seals and doesn’t generally affect cars <100k miles.
EU6 diesels are complex engines so I would certainly look into extending the MB warranty although the smaller engines seem to suffer more problems with the emissions bolt ons than the V6.
