This is a good article on the M276 3.0 vs the M276 3.5 used for a short while in the C207 E400 and in the CLS 400.Later E400 had the original M276 3.5L capacity put back in it (fettled for Euro 6), with the IHI twin turbo retained, albeit dialled back to under 10 psi compared to 26 psi for the 3L version of the M276 (if the internet is to be believed)
The non turbo 3.5L M276 was what the E350 that I had, had.
The dial back on the 3.5 E400 was to maintain the performance gap to the AMG 43 models which ran boost up to make over 100bhp on the base n/a engine.
Applying the same map principles to the 3.5L creates a similar hike...
It doesn't really answer why Mercedes went to the trouble of intoducing the 3.5 litre DELA 35 version only to revert back to the DELA 30 version in the C207 E400 replacement, the C213 E400. Maybe it was all about the turbo boost.
