e430 climate control illumination

I have recently purchased a 98/R E430. The illumination on the climate control unit is not working, I am reluctant to spend MB type of money to fix what could be as simple as a bulb.

If anyone knows how to disassemble the centre consol and the climate unit I would be please to know, also I need to replace the blower motor as it has stopped working, could these faults be linked?

I'm not sure about the E but I had climate in my previous C class which looked almost identical and the buld failed like yours - very annoying at night! - I was told that if you take it into an MB dealer they have a special tool to lift the whole rectangular facia out (I think it is via the two little slots) and replace the bulb.

Thus a five minute job and they should only charge you for the bulb... unfortunately I only found this out after spending £30 on an independent dealer who also struggeld to work out how to do it.

-as for the blower - maybe a fuse has gone? check them and/or get the bulb changed

sorted the blower out - the brushes are gone, unfortunatley no one can supply the brushes so I have had to replace the whole unit................
