E500 power upgrade?

Does anybody know when the E500's power output was upgraded from 306 to 388bhp?

Wasn't it the E 60 AMG that had the 388bhp?

It may well have done, but the current w211 E500's V8 also produces 388hp. Previous models produced 306hp and I'm guessing that the change occurred fairly recently....anyone know for sure?

Im not sure on the E500, but on the ML500 it was mid 2008. The engine changed from the 3 valve/cylinder 4996cc to the 5.5l engine, presumably the old AMG55 engine derivative.

The E500 got a power lift to 383 bhp back in Mid 06 as part of the facelift. (The E63 was released at the same time to ensure AMG had a more powerful beasty than the top of the range Merc).

Not sure how many months after launch (and press reviews) it got to the UK though.
