Hi
anyone know what way the power close doors work on an S320? Is it hydraulic or electrical or what? My driver's door attempts to power close but doesn't quite make it, so I have to slam it every time now. I never realised how useful it was- any help as to how to repair would be appreciated (S320 Y = 2000)

this is the first of the 'new' shape ones isnt it?

Im going to asssume its the same system as the old ones

the system works like this:-

microswitch in door lock sees door is past first 'click' on lock

tells pump to pump

air is pressurised into small cylinder in lock, pushing lock over centre and pulling door closed. Its +ve pressure, not a vacuum.

the problem can be -
1) switch broken / gone out of adjustment
2) air line broken / split
3) pump dying (expensive)
4) lock needs cleaning ;)

are you saying it does do its thing, but you have to slam it to get it to close the last bit automatically - or it doesnt pull it closed at all? if the former - its an adjustment thing - if the latter - try pulling the fuse for it (mines in the boot - dont know where yours is) and see if that re-sets it.

Really frustrating to read through the posts and see so many unresolved.

Ah well, I'm glad it has got better.

I try and make a point now of thanking that person for posting the answer, if we all do this it could become the norm
