Has anyone out there got th Easy -Vario Seat option on their B class.

If so can you give me any info about removing the front passenger seat.

Presumably you have to remove the big red plug from the seat when you remove it if so do they supply you with a dummy plug to put in its place ?

If so is there a part number on it ?

Do you get any warning messages about the srs or belt systems come up on the dash display ?

This information is urgently required as I need to be able to remove the Mercedes front passenger seat to fit a non standard mobility seat.

Tried M/B technical support they were not able to give out this type of info as according to them they will not give info that might affect vehicle safety.
So if you are a owner/ passenger disabled its tough

Trouble is you get some fairly inexperienced person on the phone and they give you unhelpful info but it may not be the full story or company policy. There must be thousands of disabled people world-wide who have used or are using modified Mercedes. I would try Motability as suggested above but also get back to your Merc dealer, ask for the Sales Manager or a Director, explain position, keep calm, ask for their help in solving. If they don't help disabled people they will lose a lot of car sales.
Also try e-mailing Mercedes Customer Service. Here is the link: -

Tell them the problem; ask for their help. Sometimes they are great. Other times woeful. I guess it depends which one of the dozens of staff answer your e-mail. If you don't like the answer, immediately reply to say 'very unhappy'; could a supervisor look at the problem. Keep us posted and good luck.

By the way I cannot see why any Service Dept of a main dealer could not answer your questions in your original e-mail. Surely there are non-disabled people who want answers to those questions just to be able to remove the optional seat they have bought. I had a B class (great car and so roomy) but did not have that option. But if I did I'd be ****** angry if they couldn't answer those perfectly simple questions.

I actually have the sports seats in mine but wanted info on the easy vario as they appear to be the only removable seats for the B class.

I have fitted the ELAP rotating seat (which is as far as the cars electronics knows is no seat fitted) the easy vario has a socket that you push the big red plug in (that is fitted under the seat) which presumably fools the cars electronics into thinking that there is no malfunction.

At present I have the SRS fail warning indications come up as the M/B front seat is removed (in order to fit the ELAP) and I have no socket to put the red plug into.

I therefore need information on the pinout of the easy vario socket in order to negate the malfunction indication.

The guy I spoke to was aparently from the technical department and he rang me back in response to my email to the customer service dept. Its their policy regarding modifications that appears to be the problem. Its not just me but the mobility seat manufacturers also cannot get info or help from Mercedes.

I would still write back to customer service and say you are not happy. Set out the problem. Say you want an answer in writing. If that fails contact What Car magazine who have a good record of winkling help from Manufacturers.
