Anyone has experience with EBC disc and pads? Can't find any reliable reviews. Looking for new set of front and rear brakes for C220d amg line 2017.
Are EBC worth the price or better stick with OEM replacement like Brembo or ATE?

I have EBC red stuff on the SL (previous owner fitted them) and they're being replaced with Brembo.

I've used EBC in the past and really don't rate them at all.
No end of trouble with discs warping. Changed brand, end of issues.

You had just EBC pads or rotors too?

Stick with OE brands. EBC have nonexistent quality control and are not worth the price tag.
Do you know there is any diferemce between OE disc and pads from merc dealer and OE replacement like Brembo and ATE from websites like Autodoc? (taking in the account that I have C220d which apparently has Brembo front and ATE rear from factory)

Have purchased Redstuff since 2007 and rated them so ended up with them on 3 different cars all full sets.

Pops has Ferodo Eco Friction up front they're great and lower cost so will be purchasing them in due course .

Discs , Brembo .

Same here, total nightmare. I use Brembo (From ECP) on my C, no issues.

MY brother, through work- he’s a test driver for a well-known performance carmaker- knows EBC’s sales director well (and they’re located close to me). His story- taking the guy out to track test some new pads, the sales director took a phone call. An order for, I think Greenstiff pads had come in. It was far bigger than they could turn around in time (they batch build, and didn’t have big enough batch sizing to complete the order in the delivery time the customer needed). His response? “Mix up whatever you have left from red, yellow, blue to complete”. My brother looked at him surprised. The comment on that was, “it’s all the same anyway”.

After that I have never even considered them!

I have fitted a lot of Mintex disc and pad kits and not once had a problem with fitting or use.

I went OEM on the w221.

The next time I get brakes for the CLS I’ll just stick to ATE. Been having brake noise issues with Brembos from ECP for a number of years and never used to have despite me doing the job right every time.

non OE disks/pads and the problems they cause has been covered to death on here over the years, given the difference in price vs the headache, need to replace, its just not worth it for such a critical component.

Used to use EBC pads on the bike late 1990's & early 2000's, they had a good name & price then. But like cars they are no longer popular.

That's fair enough .

I've had Green , then Yellow and lastly Red , inc Ferodo DS2500 , Mintex CTec also along the line .

I personally witnessed a tuned 1800kg Audi A4 B8 3.0 TDI Avant with a hybrid turbo go around Castle Combe with just Redstuff up front , the brakes gave up after 5 laps , not bad considering Redstuff are not for track and Karl claimed they will do everything you want out on the road .

Ok… and? How many controlled benchmarking tests has he done of the different pads? How many back to back road tests?

I’ll say it again. EBC’s product quality is that good that they are willing to mix the compound they use across different applications, just to make sales. That’s the sort of thinking that led Ford to the Pinto gas tank disaster. That level of quality disqualifies them from any type approval. They’ve never achieved homologation (despite trying hard, with Lotus and Polestar). You may want to wonder why.

I'm not interested because I've full sets of Redstuff on 3 different cars .

My father had some just up front on his old car and previous to that a full set of Greenstuff on my ST182 in 1999 and a full set of Yellow stuff on the S14 before the Red.

So that's my own personal experience of 44 EBC pads over 23 years .

As with everything there is a minority and sometimes an overwhelming majority , that is how I pick a product and the method hasn't failed me yet .

Pops now has Ferodo Eco Friction up front on his Korean , they are doing a great job not surprised considering their R&D , cheaper than EBC and now the pads of choice .

The sales pitch for the Reds was low brake dust, so less unsightly and corrosive muck on the wheels, fronts mainly.
I've had them, they were expensive, but I got what I paid for. They were also a tad sharper for braking.
But they are only available for limited models.

The Greens are ok, but not really anything special.
The Blacks are just EBC trying to cash in on the reputation of the other colours imo.

I found the edges would rust and get tight in the callipers, so had to grind the edges down some.

I haven't tried their discs, I couldn't see the point of paying their higher prices for those.
